Finnish findings presented during the EASA2024 in Barcelona

On 27th of July 2024, Chaitawat Boonjubun presented a paper entitled "Wild berry and mushroom picking and the lived experiences of Thai migrants in Finland" during a panel focused on discourses, practices food intiatives within the framework of the European Association of Social Anthropologists 2024 (EASA) organised in Barcelona.
Chaitawat's presentation explores the migration aspirations and daily challenges faced by Thai migrants who supplement their income by picking and selling wild berries and mushrooms in Finland. While most research focuses on short-term seasonal pickers and issues of exploitation, this study examines the experiences of long-term residents through interviews, shedding light on their decision-making and daily struggles in Finland's natural resource-based economy.
