AspirE's participation at IMISCOE 22nd Annual Conference

23 May 2025

It is a pleasure to share that AspirE will attend the IMISCOE 22nd Annual Conference, which is organised from 1 to 4 July 2025 in Paris, France.

AspirE's panel titled "Capturing Temporality of Migration Aspirations in Asia-Europe Social Spaces: the Potential of Video Diaries as a Participatory Method" will be chaired by Sofia Gaspar (local Principal Investigator) and Amaya Langreo (postdoctoral researcher), both based at the University Institute of Lisbon. The panel will take place in 2 parts to reveal the possibilities, challenges, and limitations of using video diaries as a participatory method in migration research in different countries in Asia and Europe.

  • Part 1: Wednesday 2 July 2025 from 10h50 to 12h30 CET (session #92 panel)
  • Part 2: Thursday 3 July 2025 from 10h50 to 12h20 CET (session #202 panel)

Joined by its sister projects, PACES and DYNAMIG, AspirE will also participate in the first part of the panel titled "Decentering Linearity: Spatial temporal Perspectives on Migration Decision-Making". The goal is to explore the significance of spatial-temporal configurations in staying and/or migrating trajectories of (potential) migrants with different socio-economic characteristics. The papers presented will analyse different contexts (in Africa, Asia and Europe) that offer empirical and theoretical insights into the factors shaping migration decision-making. This session will take place on Thursday 3 July from 15h to 16h30 CET (session #230).
