Postdoctoral Researcher

Vanessa Tkotzyk

Since March 2023, Vanessa Tkotzyk is a post-doc researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt. In 2022, she received her PhD from the University of Bonn. Her dissertation entitled “Zum Migrations- und Eingliederungsverhalten dauerhaft ansässiger Japanerinnen und Japaner in Deutschland. Charakteristika und soziale Integration der ersten Generation (Migration and Integration Patterns of Japanese Permanent Residents in Germany. Characteristics and Social Integration of the First Generation)” deals with her main research: the migration and integration of Japanese in Germany. Aside from her research on Japanese migration related topics, she has also a keen interest in the involvement of technology and the impact of digitalisation on the migration and integration process.

As a full-time post-doc researcher in the project she is responsible for the fulfillment of milestones and the submission of deliverables. Currently, she analyses the migration policy of Germany with regard to Japanese (WP2). The research design of the expert interviews and the structured interviews with aspiring (re)migrants are going to be established and conducted alongside Dr. Ruth Achenbach (WP2, WP3, WP4).
