Ruth Achenbach

Ruth Achenbach has been trained in Japanese Studies, Chinese Studies and International Law. She received her PhD in Japanese Studies from the University of Hamburg with her thesis on “Return Migration Decisions. A Study on Highly Skilled Chinese in Japan” (Wiesbaden: Springer). She has served as academic coordinator of and researcher and lecturer at the Interdisciplinary Center of East Asian Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt before acquiring two research projects as Principal Investigator. Her research interests include (return) migration decisions, life course perspectives in mobility studies, the role of skills in international migration, and development cooperation.

Ruth is the Principal Investigator of the Frankfurt leg of the AspirE project, involved in all of the work packages.
