David Streckfuss

David Streckfuss is an educator, independent scholar, social facilitator, editor, and writer. He was the director of the Khon Kaen Study Center for the Council for International Educational Exchange CIEE from 1994 to 2020. He served on the Board of Amnesty International Thailand from 2203 to 20005. He was a consultant for the European Union on the issue of freedom of expression and lese majeste in 2012. From 2013 to 2020 he helped oversee the online publication of The Isaan Record. He is the author of the book, Truth on Trial in Thailand: Defamation, Treason, and Lèse-Majesté and has been a frequent contributor to The New York Times, Al-jazeera, The Wall Street Journal, The Diplomat, among other publications

More recently, he has served as a consultant to the Foundation for Isaan Education and Popular Media (FIEPM) and heads up the Journalism that Builds Bridges project. He has also been a Foreign Expert at the Faculty for Sociology and Anthropology at Thammasat University since 2021 and continues as a Honorary Fellow with the Center for Southeast Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2013.
