Findings from the Finnish team presented at the LLRN7 in Bangkok

2 July 2025

From 29 June to 1 July 2025, the seventh edition of the Labour Law Research Network (LLRN7) took place in Bangkok (Thailand), marking the first time the conference was held in Asia and only the second time in the Global South. Bringing together scholars from across the region and around the world, LLRN7 offered a vibrant platform to explore labour law’s conceptual boundaries and methodological approaches in diverse socio-legal contexts.

Minna Seikkula, based at Tampere University, presented AspirE findings in the Thai-Finnishcontext in her paper In-between regulatory structures: Thailand to Finland seasonal migration and precarious labour. Her presentation examined the complex regulatory landscape governing seasonal migration from Thailand to Finland. By analysing the intersection of migration governance and labour regulation, her contribution sheds light on the structural factors that contribute to precarious working conditions and legal uncertainty for seasonal workers.
