AspirE research featured in Swedish radio on Thai berry pickers

AspirE’s research on Thai berry pickers in the Nordic region was recently highlighted in a Swedish radio feature examining current labour migration trends.

The programme reported a sharp contrast between Sweden and Finland this year: the Swedish Migration Agency approved only 89 out of nearly 2,400 applications from Thai berry pickers, while in Finland approximately 2,600 applications were approved and around 60 rejected.

Researcher Minna Seikkula noted that “Swedish authorities have taken a stricter line than Finnish authorities,” pointing to diverging national approaches within the region.
