AspirE Exhibition reopens at ULB Solbosch campus during EDTSS doctoral seminar

30 March 2026

The AspirE project is pleased to announce the reinstallation of its exhibition Journeys beyond research at the Université libre de Bruxelles, this time on the Solbosch campus. The exhibition is presented in the framework of the Thematic Doctoral School in Social Sciences (EDTSS), which will take place from 8 to 10 April 2026.

Following its previous presentation at the ULB–VUB Usquare site, this new edition offers another opportunity for doctoral researchers, scholars, and the wider public to engage with AspirE’s innovative approach to migration research.

The exhibition transforms the project’s research into a visual experience, combining a catalogue of avatars from video diaries and storytelling to highlight the lived experiences of migrants between Asia and Europe. Through these materials, visitors are invited to explore the emotional and symbolic dimensions of migration, going beyond traditional academic outputs.

The official inauguration will take place on 10 April 2026, at 9h00, marking the final day of the EDTSS doctoral seminar. The event will include a guided visit of the exhibition (Building H, Solbosch campus, ULB), with a presentation by Asuncion Fresnoza-Flot and Catherine Gonzalez Alvarez.

By bringing research into a visual format, Journeys beyond research continues AspirE’s mission to humanise migration studies and foster dialogue between academia and society. The exhibition contributes to the broader EDTSS programme, which gathers doctoral researchers working on migration, diversity, and social transformations.

Visitors are warmly invited to attend the inauguration and discover how creative methodologies can open new ways of understanding migration. Please note that this event will be held in French.
