S3 - Episode 2 Migrant stories and networks from Asia

This episode turns to the key findings from AspirE’s Asian local teams, following extensive migrant interviews and social network mapping. Several team members join the discussion, beginning with brief introductions before outlining who participated in their research (how many migrants were interviewed, their age and gender profiles, and how participants were contacted).

The conversation then explores the main factors influencing migrants’ decisions to stay, return, or move elsewhere, highlighting personal motivations as well as policy frameworks that shape (re)migration aspirations. Building on this, the teams reflect on insights from social network mapping, describing how relationships with family, friends, community members, and institutions influence mobility decisions. They identify the types of support and key actors that most strongly affect migrants’ trajectories.
