S4 - Episode 1 Gathering voices and views on migration from the ground up
Published on 8 May 2026
AspirE's podcast series 4 is dedicated to Work Package 4 (WP4), which focuses on collecting and analysing perspectives on migration from migrants through video diaries and key stakeholders through focus group discussions.
In this opening episode, we invite you to discover how WP4 was designed and implemented in practice. Host Catherine Gonzalez is joined by Amaya Sumpsi Langreo (ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon), who walks us through the key activities of WP4, from the collection of year-long video diaries recorded by migrants themselves to the organisation of focus group discussions with policymakers, practitioners, and researchers.
The episode offers a behind-the-scenes look at how these methods were carried out, the challenges encountered along the way, and the unique insights they made possible. It also introduces the exhibition “Asian Lives in Europe: A Visual Journey”, which brings some of these stories to life for a wider audience.
